The Moonlight Angels are a fundraising arm of the Moonlight Cultural Foundation and we support the fabulous programs of the Moonlight Amphitheatre. Our main fundraiser is our “OpTix” program. Each night prior to the performance, we sell opportunity tickets to the patrons in the audience. These tickets give the patrons a chance to win the nightly drawing (season passes for the following summer) and are also entered into a grand prize drawing for $1,000 at the end of the season. We also give free Moonlight t-shirts to patrons who buy $20 worth of opportunity tickets.
Volunteers: Great for Growth Groups, individuals, families, students looking to earn school community service hours.
Bonus: The perk of volunteering is that you get to stay and watch the show for free, and all volunteers get a free Moonlight t-shirt as well. This is a great way for families who otherwise couldn’t afford to take the whole family to the theater to enjoy a night out while doing community service at the same time.
Children: Volunteers should be 14 years and up, but they do allow younger kids as long as they work alongside a parent. Some of the best sellers are young kids because people just can’t say no to those faces!
Community Service Hours: Great way to earn hours for school.
Duties: Volunteers are most needed to sell tickets, but are also used to write the patrons’ phone numbers on the tickets. (They sell tickets in groups of 3 or 12 and sellers write the name and phone number on the first ticket, then volunteer writers copy them onto the rest of the tickets.) Ticket writing is a good volunteer opportunity for those with mobility issues, because they can sit at a table and write tickets. The only requirement for that job is good handwriting. They also run the kiosk where people can buy Moonlight merchandise, and we use volunteers to take care of that as well. Training is provided and they try to partner “newbies” with our more experienced volunteers as much as possible for their first shift.
Dates: Volunteers are needed June 12th – Sept 29th. They use an on-line calendaring system which allows volunteers to choose their own dates, and they can work as many or as few nights as they choose. Click on this link for their Sign Up Genius.
Orientation meeting: May 29th @ 5:30pm. This meeting is strongly encouraged and is very helpful, but is not mandatory.
