Native Plant Gardening - Agua Hedionda Discovery Center

The Discovery Center hosts a ¾ mile walking trail and a large native-species garden exhibit.  Both require consistent maintenance. Volunteer activities can include monitoring restored sites, removing invasive plant species, repairing minor erosion problems, trimming overgrown vegetation and other general maintenance.  Your volunteer efforts will support a safe outdoor learning environment for field trips and help protect our native plant species.

Bring/Wear: Volunteers are required to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun protection.  Bring a re-usable water bottle (no plastic disposable bottles please).  One of the staff members will be present at the start of the event to give directions.

Volunteers:  Children 12yr+ only please.  Volunteers 12-16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult chaperone and sign a waiver.  All children 16+ will need a parental permission slips but may be left on their own.
