There is no known end date in this fight against coronavirus and the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors and blood drive hosts to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks to come. Make an appointment today or walk into any local center. Extra precautions are being taken to ensure everyone’s safety. The Red Cross will appropriately distance the beds and everyone’s temperature taken prior to entering the room. Appointments necessary.

NEW AND EXCITING! Antibody Testing for Corona Virus!
The Red Cross will use the antibody test authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration which will indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms. Blood, platelet and plasma donations will be tested using samples obtained at the time of donation and sent to a testing laboratory where they will also undergo routine screening and infectious disease testing.
It’s important to emphasize that this is not a diagnostic test. To protect the health and safety of the employees, volunteers and donors, individuals who do not feel well should continue to postpone donation. The Red Cross is not testing donors to diagnose illness.
Donor Benefit: The Red Cross hopes testing for COVID-19 antibodies will provide donors insight into whether they may have been exposed to this coronavirus. During this uncertain time, individuals and public health organizations desire more information about COVID-19, and as an organization dedicated to helping others, the Red Cross is fortunate to be able to help.
Red Cross donors can expect to receive the results of their antibody test within 7 to 10 days through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or on the donor portal at RedCrossBlood.
