“Education Begins in the Home” is a 501(c)3 non-profit group led by community activist and volunteers. They provide FREE books to the youth and families of North County San Diego. They participate in events from Oceanside to Valley Center and most of the communities in-between to give away free books. Their goal is to improve the literacy rate of children in North County.
Project: A pallet of approximately 1100 new books is being donated by the San Diego Council on Literacy. It will be dropped on in the team leader’s driveway and 3-5 volunteers are needed to sort them by school level (i.e. elementary, middle and high school). The sorting will take place outside in the driveway on three tables, two people seated per table. All volunteers are asked to wear masks. You will list the book title, number of books with same title, authors name and approximate book age group. If you have a lap top with Excel, please bring it. Each volunteer will be able to keep as many of the books that you would like.
Provided: Water
Bring: face mask, hat and gloves (optional), laptop (if you have one), snacks.
Day: To be confirmed! As soon as the date is confirmed, volunteers will be notified.
Time: To be confirmed but plan for approximately 10am-3pm.
Location: Sorting takes place at the team leaders home, 523 Edgewater Ave, Oceanside 92057
Child Friendly: Yes, but 10 and older are preferred!
