Project: A toiletry kit can be such a beautiful act of kindness to those in need and is a simple thing to do as an individual or with a group of people. Create individual kits for someone who is homeless, a Veteran, or a low-income senior.
Where Should I Donate? Choose an organization in your area that you feel has a need, it’s completely up to you. It is recommended that you call around first to find out if they have specific needs or if the suggestions below are a good fit. Homeless shelters or Veteran shelters are typically in need of these items, and you may also have a senior community center that provide free lunches to seniors whom might also benefit from such a kit.
Suggested Items:
- Bar of soap
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Deodorant, shampoo and conditioner
- Razors, shaving cream and washcloth
- Comb and/or brush
- Mouthwash
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- A hand-written card or note of encouragement*Items may be full size or travel size depending on the recipient. Seniors may prefer full size products vs. someone living on the streets may prefer travel size.
*Packaging: Place all items inside a sturdy grocery bag with handles or a large zip lock bag.
Dates/Times: Coordinate the best day/time with the organization of your choice and drop off your assembled kits.
How many kits should I make? Make any amount that is within your financial means. Depending on the needs of the organization you may make anywhere from 1-50+ kits.
