*This project is designed for groups of 10 or smaller. Please do not sign up for this project if your group is larger because it can be overwhelming for the residents.*
Sign up to visit one of six Downstown homes and play games with the residents. Please bring a few simple games and/or activities that will ensure a fun night with these super-friendly adults with Down Syndrome or other developmental disabilities.
Suggested Games and Activities:
- BINGO (most popular!)*
- UNO Card Game*
- Connect 4
- Cookie Decorating
- Knitting/Crocheting/Holiday Crafts
- Guitar/piano-led singing
*Most of the houses have a set of Bingo and UNO that you may use
Covid vaccine and mask guidelines: All volunteers are welcome regardless of vaccination status, however if you are not vaccinated, please be prepared to wear a mask inside the house.
Snacks: You are welcome to bring a healthy snack to share with the residents. There are currently about four residents per home. Please bring a prize for each resident for Bingo, this is greatly appreciated as it’s always more fun if “everyone” wins, as this keeps everyone happy and excited. Items such as a small Dollar Store prizes are great.
Location: Following registration, an email will be sent with the house address and reminder details about the project. We try to rotate through all six homes in order to allow each of them a game night. There are homes in Vista and San Marcos.
Group Size: This project is geared for groups of 10 or smaller due to the size of the homes. If your group is larger than this, we may be able to separate the group between two houses. Please let us know in the comments section if you’d like to do this.
Child Friendly: Yes, children are welcome. If they are not vaccinated, we ask that they wear a mask.
Questions/Team Leader: Yuchuan, email: [email protected], Phone: (760) 533-9882
When registering, please note if you have a preferred location in the “comments box,” for either Vista or San Marcos.
