There is a HIGH need for home meal deliveries. Being a volunteer driver is a great way to serve the senior community in Carlsbad. Seniors 60 yrs. and older may participate in the city’s lunch program. Some of the seniors are able to drive to the Carlsbad Senior Center to pick up their lunches, but some are home-bound and have their lunches delivered to them. Become a volunteer driver and deliver lunches to these home-bound seniors!
How Much Time is Involved?: Volunteers would take one shift and one route per week. Deliveries take place M-F between 10am-12pm. All routes are in Carlsbad.
Volunteer Requirements: On boarding is easy and will be done by contacting the Eric Biggin, Supervisor of the Nutrition Program at the Carlsbad Senior Center. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and insurance, and have a good DMV record. All volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and attend a short orientation prior to driving for the program. Volunteer drivers utilize their own personal vehicles.
Frequency: Flexible days (M-F, 10am-12pm). Volunteers are asked to sign up for one shift and one route per week.
Location/Training Dates: Training is held at the Carlsbad Senior Center. Training dates coming soon!
