Equestrian Program: Ivey Ranch Park is a care and recreation center for people with and without special needs. Their primary operation is horse-riding therapy for people with a range of disabilities and special needs. Volunteers will help with this program through horse care and client support. It is an amazing opportunity to be close to horses and be in a therapeutic, positive environment.
Orientation: There is no horse experience necessary! You will be taught everything you need to know. Equestrian volunteers must participate in an orientation and complete the e-application prior to participating in the program. Following your orientation, you may volunteer with the clients and horses.
Requirements: Complete e-application via Ivey Ranch prior to arrival HERE.
Commitment: After orientation has been completed, they ask for a 6-week minimum commitment. You may choose from the volunteer opps below which are typically 1.5-2hrs in length.
Attire: Please wear jeans and closed-toed shoes. No sandals or flip flops!
Location Details: Ivey Ranch Park Association, 110 Rancho Del Oro Drive, Oceanside CA 92057. Once you turn off Rancho Del Oro from the 76, drive straight past Casa de Amparo and Canine Companions. On your right-hand side, there is a small parking lot and a big tree with a picnic bench underneath it; meet there and the team leader will be there to greet you!
