Garden Beautification – Oceana Garden Club
Oceana Garden Club is a community garden for residents of the 55+ and older Oceana neighborhood. It consists of 31 individual plots and a surrounding orchard. Volunteers will work alongside the community gardeners, whom greatly appreciate help with some of the physically demanding work to maintain the grounds. Some tasks are seasonal, while others are ongoing.
Project details: Help with cleanup, gardening and beautification of the garden. The work may include: weeding, trench digging, trimming bushes, hauling mulch and other miscellaneous tasks.
Volunteers Needed: This project is “flexible” and can accommodate as few as 2-3 individual or up to 15 volunteers at one time.
Date/Time: Saturdays/Weekly. Alternate rain dates will be scheduled if needed.
Location: 3630 Vista Bella, Oceanside, 92057
Bring: Insect repellent, sunscreen, water.
Wear: Hat, closed toe shoes. long sleeves, long pants, and bring garden gloves if you have them.
Tools and equipment are provided. In case of a very large group, it’s helpful to bring any shovels, rakes and weeding tools you might have.
Family friendly with age restrictions: No children under 12 please. Children 12-17 yrs are welcome with advance notice and must be accompanied by parent/guardian, and with a signed waiver prior to entering the garden. Please notify the Garden Leaders in advance if you plan to bring children. Sorry, but the garden is not suited for children under 12 years. There are too many high weeds, insects, sharp tools, etc.
