About: North County Veterans Stand Down (NCVSD) is an annual four-day event in Vista, California, that enables ALL veterans throughout San Diego County to receive much-needed services in a safe, friendly, drug-free, and secure environment. Volunteers are needed in a variety of ways, see below. This is a great project for both Life Groups and individuals.
Dates: October 20-23, 2022
Location: Green Oak Ranch, 1237 Green Oak Ranch Rd. Vista, CA 92081
Sign up: Please sign up directly via the NCVSD website and make a notation that you are part of North Coast Church. You may choose to sign up as a group or as an individual on their site.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Guest Registration: Work directly with guests filling out health questionnaire and waiver forms upon arrival. This is the first stop for the guests.
Battle Buddy: HIGHEST NEED on THURSDAY all day (AM/PM) and FRIDAY (AM). Guests are assigned to a Battle Buddy who assists them throughout the day.
Hospitality Store: An actual shopping store for guests. Clothing is the big item guests need help with addition to other personal items. It runs just like a store. Items are stocked and areas are made presentable during the operational hours.
Service Provider Mall: Service providers are set up in booth-like areas that can provide services for the guests. Assist the guest as needed.
Pet Zone: If you love animals, there is where you want to be! A guest brings their animals to the pet zone where the pet is groomed, given pet daycare and veterinary services are scheduled.
Security: Traffic and pedestrian control throughout the ranch.
Offsite Van Drivers: Vans are dispatched on a schedule to pick up guests, and later to drop off.
Art Tent: Assist with art projects.
