School Program Prep  - Aqua Hedionda Discovery Center

PLEASE CHECK BACK – WE ARE WAITING TO CONFIRM A DATE FOR THIS PROJECT.

The Discover Center has over 8,000 students visit through their environmental stewardship academy.  The mission is to awaken in our children the need to appreciate and care for the natural environment. The program provides hands-on classes that stress responsible interaction with our natural surroundings and creates awareness of the environmental impact of day-to-day human activities.

Project: Assistance is needed to prepare the crafts for the educators who will engage with the students.

Duties:  Craft prep may include cutting cardboard and paper to assemble recycled field journals, wrapping recycled paper towel rolls in different colored construction paper, putting key chains onto leather strips, making raffia weaves for future weaving projects, cutting templates and more.  Any assistance with the prep work for students to enjoy different hands-on activities at the center is greatly appreciated.

Materials Provided:  All tools and craft materials will be provided at the center.  One of the staff members, Randy Dean or Julia Duffey will be present at the start of the event to give directions and provide materials.

Day/Time: First Saturday of the Month, 9-11am

Volunteers:  Ages 12+ and older please.  Children under the age of 18 are required to have a parent/legal guardian present to sign a waiver, or they may request a waiver prior to the event (email [email protected]).  Children still need to be supervised by an adult on site.  Waivers will be provided by the Center.
