Vista Conservancy - Impact Project - Apr 23 - PM Shift

About:  The Vista Conservancy is a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation interested in the protection of historical, agricultural and environmentally sensitive open space within the Vista area. They maintain a public walking trail that follows the Buena Vista Creek from Brengle Terrace Park down to Wildwood Park and the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe. The organization relies exclusively on the support of the citizens and businesses of Vista.

Project:  This project encompasses three areas of focus:

  • Tree trimming, weed trimming, and debris and leaf removal
  • Completion of the Natural Play Area: mulch and beautify play area of boulders, stumps, and logs
  • Rail fence construction

Meet:  Park at the church lot located near the Conservancy entrance, 981 Vale Terrace Dr., Vista, 92084.  Permission has been granted by the church to park here.  This address is on the south side of the street approximately 0.4 miles west of the main entrance to Brengle Terrace Park.

*Alternate Parking Option: If the lot at 981 Vale Terrace (above) is full, there is an empty dirt lot right next to the church (east of), that is a viable option.  Once you are parked, cross the bridge over the creek and look for the check-in tent.

Volunteers:  100 individuals needed with no previous experience.

Skilled Volunteers:  Also looking for 8-12 skilled professionals in landscaping, tree trimming, arborists, construction, and experience with weed trimmers, chain saws and power tools.  If this is you, please sign up HERE!

Wear:  Long pants, closed-toed shoes, work gloves, hat, sunblock

Bring: Water, work gloves and any tools you may have: landscape and leaf rakes, loppers, pruning saws, pole saws, shovels, post hole diggers, weed whackers and push brooms

Child Friendly:  Children 12+ yrs.  Children need to be supervised by an adult at all times as there are areas of the creek that could be unsafe and contain poison ivy.  There will be specific jobs and work areas for younger children.  Please include the number of children in the comments box at registration.

Waivers: Please fill out and submit the appropriate online waiver before the project day.
