Top 5 Questions About The Backpack Drive!

Why we do it and how to get involved:

  1. How can I volunteer?  The Drive runs two weekends, July 30-31 and Aug 6-7.  If you’d like help collect, stuff or sort backpacks during one of the services, check out the volunteer opportunities.  This event is family friendly and a great way to earn volunteer hours.
  2. Why we do it? North Coast hosts the annual Backpack Drive to help support local children without access to necessary school supplies by providing NEW backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year.  As simple as it seems, a new backpack has a profound effect on kids who have very little.
  3. Who receives the backpack donations?  For many struggling families, the anticipation of having to purchase the long list of school supplies can be overwhelming, especially if they have multiple children. The packs are donated to North Coast members, local schools and non-profits who work very closely with the at-risk youth and know whose most in need.
  4. Which campuses participate in the Drive?  All North Coast campuses are collecting backpacks stuffed full of school supplies.  Each of them supports local schools and non-profits in their area.  To learn more about the Backpack Drive, check with your campus.
  5. What local businesses come alongside North Coast?  North Coast has been blessed by a local Carlsbad company called Vessel.  Vessel specializes in golf bags but offers a line of school backpacks and have donated over 800 backpacks annually to support our drive.  The backpacks are then stuffed by North Coasters with the donated school supplies.  Voila!  This is a win-win! Let us know if your company would like to donate school supplies or backpacks.
