About: ProduceGood is a food recovery organization that goes to the source of surplus produce, orchards, backyards, farms, farmers markets and grocers, to glean the excess fruit.  The fruit is then transported to pantries, shelters and other organizations who feed food-insecure people in San Diego County.

Project:  Sign up via the ProduceGood website to help pick fruit and keep it out of landfills.  Look for Quick Picks or Big Picks on their website.

• Quick Picks = great for small groups or individuals and usually take place mid-week, maximum 8 people.  Great for 8yrs and older.
• Big Pick = great for larger groups up to 20 people to collect citrus or other fruit from local backyards and orchards donated by local residents and farmers. Great for 8yrs and older.
• Market Share: Collect excess produce from vendors at Farmers Markets for San Diego’s food insecure, maximum 4 people, Sundays.

Where:  Projects take place all over San Diego County throughout most of the year.  Select the date and location that suits you best. There are week-day picks that can accommodate around 8 people, and the weekend picks that are suitable for larger groups.  All fruit picked can be reached by hand or by using pickers.  There is no climbing on ladders.  Some bending and lifting is required, but for there is typically someone able to help those that have limited mobility.

Bring:  Water, hat, gardening gloves, sunscreen, snacks, and garden clippers if you have them. Must wear closed toes shoes.
