Assist Horses and Riders in Therapy Program - REINS

About:  At REINS, children and adults with disabilities learn how to ride horses. This is an intense form of therapy that benefits a wide range of abilities.  Their current enrollment is nearly 200 weekly students who come from all over.  REINS is in need of volunteers to assist in all aspects of the program, the horses and the riders.  Volunteers must be able to adhere to safety standards, follow directions from the program staff, and provide services needed.

Dates/Times: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday for Morning Shifts (8:30am – 12:00pm) and Afternoon Shifts (1:00pm – 5:30pm) and Saturday for Morning Shift (8:30am – 12:00pm) and Afternoon Shift (12:30pm – 4:00pm). They ask that you commit to at least three months, but greatly appreciate help for longer, six months, a year, or more!

Community Service Hours:  They keep track of hours which may be used for school, court or extra-curricular requirements.

Child Friendly?  Volunteers must be 12 yrs or older.

Orientation/Training:  Plan to attend an orientation. To register for the orientation, please visit the REINS website https://reinsprogram.org/support/volunteer/.  There is a link to submit your volunteer information.  The Volunteer Coordinator will follow up to schedule your orientation.

Wear:  Please wear sturdy, comfortable CLOSED-TOED shoes for safety and protection and clothes that are comfortable and suited for the weather.   Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are encouraged as you will spend a lot of time in the sun.

Bring:  Water and snacks.
