What is the Solutions Farm? It is a unique aquaponic farm where nutrient-rich water from fish culture is used to nourish produce, which in turn purifies the water so it can be returned to the fish. Everything is done within the controlled environment of a greenhouse. It is currently one of the largest aquaponic facilities in the West.
What’s the Purpose of the Farm? Solutions for Change is an organization that provides an opportunity for homeless families to regain their financial viability, their place in the community, their security and their happiness. The farm provides a place that teaches work force skills, the opportunity to be purposeful and structure. Additional community help is needed to keep the farm running.
Project Details: There are plenty of hands on volunteer opportunities OUTSIDE the greenhouse on the 2.1 acres of farm property. To keep up with Covid-19 social distancing guidelines, only approved staff are allowed inside the farm greenhouse and fish tank room, while all others will be outside.
Solutions Farms COVID-19 Era Projects:
- Pulling weeds and trimming trees around the farm perimeter
- Planting tomato plants outside the greenhouse along the side of our property
- Clear a dead tree that was chopped up and needs to be thrown into the dumpster
