Maryland Elementary is a public school in Vista school that provides education for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade. Leaning how to read well is a gift that can never be taken away and may change the trajectory of a child’s life. Volunteers are needed to read with students to encourage them and help them become proficient in reading.
Location: Maryland Elementary School, Vista
Dates/Times:
Mondays 2:30-3:30
Tues, Weds, Thurs, 3:30-4:30
*Reading is being done in person
Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to one hour per week. Ideally, they’d like to pair up tutors and students so that you may see the same student every week. There is an opportunity for tutoring during the day so please ask if this interest you. Volunteers will be asked to complete an online safe-ministry training.
Volunteer Hours: This is a great opportunity for high school students who may need community service hours. The children would love them as mentors and will positively impact these young students.
Training/Tools: No special experience is necessary. Volunteers will be trained on how to read with the children and provided all the necessary materials. Simply bring yourself.
