Green Oak Ranch - Build Projects (Shift 3)

Please note: this project is now FULL and occurs April 25, 8am-12pm.

About: Green Oak Ranch is a 140-acre camp and retreat site and drug and alcohol recovery center. They are a 501c (3) who helps transform local lives by hosting retreats and providing a 9-month, Christ-centered residential recovery program.

Project Details: This project involves building in a variety of areas around the Ranch. You will be assigned to one of these build projects upon check-in.

  • Patio cover or pergola with a hard roof over the Men’s Resident’s outdoor weight area.  This area is critical for the mental and physical health of the men in the recovery program.  The goal is to keep the “weather” off the weights so they will last longer and get used more often.
  • Rebuilding of the patio cover at the Craft House. The cover was destroyed by termites and a tree branch that finally took it down. This area is used all summer long by camps and kids doing craft projects.
  • Relocation of the sink from the current location to a newly constructed brick wall added to the front of the facility which prevents campers from looking into the bathrooms. In addition, a simple roof covering over the wash area to enable use during inclement weather.

Bring: Work gloves/rubber gloves, hats, mask, water, snacks, sunblock. As the serve date approaches, Project Leader will let you know if you need to bring any other tools and supplies.

Wear: Masks and appropriate clothing for the project. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are encouraged. If you have Serve Your City shirt, please wear it! They can be purchased at all North Coast campuses during weekend services.

Meet: After you enter the property, volunteers will be directed to the main dining hall, which will be on your right about 200 yards from the main gate. There will be a greeter and a check in table. From here, volunteers will be dispersed to their project site.

Child friendly? No.

No prior experience needed to serve, but we’re also looking for skilled professionals. Do you have experience in a skilled trade (i.e. carpentry, painting, etc.)? Let us know!
