The Discovery Center hosts a ¾ mile walking trail and a large native-species garden exhibit. Both require consistent maintenance. Volunteer activities can include monitoring restored sites, removing invasive plant species, repairing minor erosion problems, trimming overgrown vegetation and other general maintenance.
Bring/Wear: Volunteers working on the trail or in the garden are required to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun protection. Bring a re-usable water bottle (no plastic disposable bottles please). One of the staff members, Randy Dean or Julia Duffey will be present at the start of the event to give directions and provide tools.
Day/Time: Saturday, 9-11am
Volunteers: Ages 12+ and older please. Children under the age of 18 are required to have a parent/legal guardian present to sign a waiver, or they may request a waiver prior to the event (email [email protected]). Children still need to be supervised by an adult on site. Waivers will be provided by the Center.
Tools: All tools will be provided by The Center.
Your volunteer efforts will support a safe outdoor learning environment for visiting filed trips and help protect our native plant species.
