***A limited number of volunteers will be accepted in order to keep everyone safe during the Covid Crisis. Please make sure to bring a mask and gloves.***
The Discovery Center hosts a ¾ mile walking trail and a large native-species garden exhibit. Both require consistent maintenance. Volunteer activities can include monitoring restored sites, removing invasive plant species, repairing minor erosion problems, trimming overgrown vegetation and other general maintenance.
Bring/Wear: Volunteers working on the trail or in the garden are required to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun protection. Bring a re-usable water bottle (no plastic disposable bottles please). One of the staff members will be present at the start of the event to give directions and provide tools.
Day/Time: Saturday, 9-11am
Volunteers: Ages 12+ and older please. Children under the age of 18 are required to have a parent/legal guardian present to sign a waiver, or they may request a waiver prior to the event (email Lisa Rodman, [email protected]). Children still need to be supervised by an adult on site. Waivers will be provided by the Center.
Tools: All tools will be provided by The Center.
Your volunteer efforts will support a safe outdoor learning environment for visiting filed trips and help protect our native plant species.
