We encourage you to support a local school in your area and have some ideas on how to get started:
- Contact your local school and let them know you’d like to donate a backpack full of school supplies for children that are in need. Typically, the nurse, office manager or principals will know specific students that are truly in need and can give you an idea of their need.
- Find out when school starts and ask the school staff when the best time would be to deliver the packs. Typically, they prefer to have them prior to the start of school so that the child may come well prepared on their first day.
- Determine how many backpacks you plan to fill. We estimate that it can cost $30+ dollars for a complete pack.
- Finally, go shopping and deliver your pack.
- Print out this post card and provide with your donation as you deliver it to your local school.
Looking for another way to donate?
- Check out Operation Backpack.
- Or donate online to the Community Service Fund which will be used to fullfill more backpack requests.
Questions: Contact Trent at [email protected]
When do the backpacks need to be dropped off?
The weekend of July 30-31 and August 6-7, before and after church services. This event takes place at all North Coast Campuses.
What is the Backpack Drive?
North Coast hosts the annual Backpack Drive in order to collect new backpacks stuffed FULL of school supplies. The goal is to provide homeless children and the underserved population the proper school supplies to start the school year off right!
How does it work?
Each campus sponsors unique organizations with different needs. Simply check out the supply list on the Community Service website for your campus. Then, go shopping to purchase the items and bring the stuffed backpack full of school supplies by Aug 7th.
Who receives the packs?
North Coast partners with several non-profit organizations and school districts who distribute the packs to the children most in need. Check out your campus tab for specific details.
Why are we doing this Drive?
North Coast believes strongly in giving back and having our members and community do the same. The best thing we can do is provide love and support to our kids as they go back to school.
Monetary donations:
It’s super easy to donate online via your credit card. The donations will be used to fulfill our backpack requests. Checks should be written to: North Coast Church, memo: Backpack Drive + Campus Name. Drop checks at your campus or mail them to North Coast Church, 2405 North Santa Fe Avenue, Vista, CA 92084.
What type of donations are needed?
Ideally, we would like a backpack filled with all the suggested school supplies.
What organizations benefit from this drive?

What items are on the supply list?
A list of the basic school supplies such as a backpack, binder, pencils, paper, paper, etc., for each age group. Please click on a campus name above to find the corresponding lists.
Can I donate gently used items, backpacks or supplies?
No, thank you! We would like to make sure these kids receive a really nice gift.
What age group has the greatest need?
Middle school/high school are the most overlooked age group. If possible, choose a solid or gender neutral colored backpack for a teenager.
Do you need to know what age group the backpack is intended for?
Yes! Please mark the pack with “male or female” and the age or grade of the child in mind. Take a piece of paper or tape, and adhere it to the backpack with the information.
How do North Coast Church members get on list to receive a backpack?
Each campus sponsors specific community partners, but if individual North Coast members are in need, contact the “Member Care Coordinator” at your campus to get on the list.
